The festival of colors

Holi, aka the festival of colors, is an ancient Hindu religious festival in India which is popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia. In recent years the festival has spread to parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love and colors. Holi start on the night before Holi with a Holika bonfire where people get together and do religious rituals in front of the bonfire. They pray that their internal evil be destroyed. The next morning is celebrated as Rangwali Holi, a carnival of colors, where participants play, chase and color each other with dry powder and colored water. The fight with colours occurs in the open streets, open parks, outside temples and buildings.
