Interesting fact of the day

Ceylon tea

Sri Lanka is one of the world's largest tea producers and leading exporters of tea. The industry was introduced to Sri Lanka in 1867 by James Taylor, a British planter. The humidity, cool temperatures, and rainfall of Sri Lanka's central highlands provide a nice climate for the production of high quality tea. Tea production accounts for more than 2% of GDP of Sri Lanka. The industry directly or indirectly employs over 1 million people.
